Do Windows API calls (or a single call) exist that would allow monitoring the availability of shared drives on a Windows Server. If they do exist, in which SDK would I find them?

Our enterprise's shared drives sometimes are not available, and having a little bot check for their availability would be most helpful. However, I do not know where to look in the many Windows SDKs.

Although I have tagged this Window-server 2003, we are also running Windows Server 2008, and even an old unsupported W2K server. (I'm not really interested in API availability for the older server.)
