Inserted a Cd in drive D. "audio CD" symbol appears in "MY COMPUTER ". When I clicked on it, this dialog box appears:" can not perform this operation because it is not associated with any program. Please click "View" on "MY COMPUTER" and select "FOLDER OPTIONS" " . I did all those and choose all the options available.Same problem , same dialog box. But if I right-click on the "Audio cd" symbol and select "OPEN" or "EXPLORE" , all the tracks on the CD appears. Only then I could play the CD. It is annoying.

    Hi Jerry72,
When you click Start > My Computer > Right Click CD Drive (D:) > Left click Properties > Auto play Do you see a green dot in - Prompt me each time to choose an action? If this is green dotted you should see that appear on the screen when you insert a CD in your drive. Cheers Neil.

check in device manager that you audio is installed
If it does other audio it is most likely ok
Take the cover of your computer off ( it never hurts not only to have it off but pull the plug)
Check to see that the connection cord ( tad cable) that goes from the motherboard to the left side ( back ) of the CD is in place. Many people do not bother to put it back
Lastly check your audio settings ( control panel or tray perhaps) that nothing is muted and that volume controls are turned up
Also do you have speakers - again if you play an audio file on your computer and you hear it then that area checks out

Does audio play on your computer - if it does good
In the device manager all audio hardware should be installed - no red xs or question marks
Turn off your computer . pull out the plug as well
Check to see that the audio cable ( tad connector) runs from the motherboard to the left ( on the back of the cd) plug on the cd rom
Many do not place the tad connector back
Lastly check your audio settings ( control panel) that nothing is muted and volume is up
Do you have speakers , then again if played audio on the computer works that checks out
