Can not open Outlook Express or log on to Internet

I do not get any SCARY error messages. Just that when I try the internet after a minute I get the "refresh" page/can not load page. And when I try to open my email I get the message: "The host pop-server....Socket Error 11001 Error Number 0x800CCCOD "

Also, what OS and version number of IE are you running? If its not 6, you could try a repair:

Control Panel | AddRemove. Doubleclick Microsoft Internet Explorer. Choose Repair, apply and restart.

Using Windows ME and IE 6.

We have RoadRunner (cable modem) and my wife's computer (the one I am using to answer you) is using the same internet connection via our Etherfast Cable Router and she has no problem with email or internet.

I did the link 1 on IE and got down to the part about "hosts ".
I opened it with Notepad and it is empty. I am lost about what to do next cause I don't see how can be the ISP problem about the DNS server.

I checked my wife's settings and saw that I had virtual private and plug and play under communications settings and she did not. So I uninstalled it on my computer.

AND ....

(suspense killing you!>)

WAHOO! I now am able to serf and just downloaded my email.
