Guessing that you're using a USB keyboard????

Can switch to a PS2 keyboard or look in the BIOS for an option "Enable Legacy USB Devices. "

first of all go into the bios and see if the computer spots the drive
if not - make sure jumpers are set the same as the other drive ( for settings not just copy the jumpers if they are different drives)
    check the cables
you may have to update the bios to accomodate the new drive - it may beyond the wildest dreams of your current motherboard bios
don't run to do this before you try other things first
    how are the cables ?
    in tight ? defective ?
you may have to format the drive ahead of time - make sure that is is ntsf
    not fat32
also you may want to test the drive and / or prepare it with maxtor utlities
