I have a total of four MP4 video files on my "c" drive totalling just under 5 gigs in size.
I have no further use for them but I can not delete them.
I keep getting the message saying that "access is denied. Make sure that the disk is not full or write protected and that the file is not currently in use ". Usually a simple reboot of the sytem fixes this problem but not this time. Can anyone help me please?

    DELETE MP4 :

1-Open the Command line window on the desktop, or go to START, RUN and type cmd, this will open to you the lovely DOS window !!!
    Keep it open.
2-open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc), or right click on the bottom bar and choose Task Manager.
3-End Process of all EXPLORER.exe tasks. Usually One only.
4-Your desktop will go blank, except for the windows (DOS) already open.
5-If not opened (DOS) open it from TASK Manager from : Applications/New Task/cmd and ''chdir'' to go to the directory which has the file to be removed.. Now try to delete the offending file by means of the DEL command, or folder by means of the RMDIR (remove directory) command, in the command line window, as described above.
6-After that, in the command line window enter: EXPLORER, or EXIT and..... Voila you are back to Windows and your MP4 files are Gone.

Don't be afraid to do it as above.
    Nothing will harm you.
Enjoy the long but intersting voyage.

Thank you all for your replies. I decided to take the most easy looking step first (First of all try deleting in Safe Mode, i.e. tap F8 as you switch on and then select Safe Mode from the menuand then go from there), so I booted up the pc in safe mode as suggested by Burr Walnutt. As soon as I gave it the command to go to the recycle bin in safe mode,POOOOOFFF!!! GONE!!!!Thank you Burr Walnutt

    MP4 is more stuborn usually.
you are lucky for this one.
safe mode in general does not delete MP4.
anyway why all this complexity, when it should be deleted by a click !!
    windows again !
