Yes, mozilla/opera have replaced netscape for me. It's probably a good idea to download and test mozilla, to see if it can replace netscape for you... ;)

I used NS 7.02 from its birth. It did have some stability problems that I had to be on guard for, but it was quite useable.

Then Mozilla 1.4 came into the picture. Installed it and after a week, 7.02 bit the dust. Mozilla installs easier, faster and is more stable. Haven't found any real problems yet

Did have a very minor problem that I created thru some dumb maneuvers, but thanks to Tranquilo, it was quickly disposed of.

Only wish, so far, is that a more convenient means of bringing up the mail window would be available, but oh well, it beats IE hands down and standing still!

    I rise to the bait....

I have seen this stated many times but never with an explanation as to what exactly it does better than IE.

I don't wish to get into any MS bashing or the like but I wonder what I'm missing by using IE. I have used Mozilla and Netscape and Opera and all have been removed from my system because I could see no improvement over IE.

I might state that when I ask IE to go to a site, it does and displays it along with any audio or video or animation that the page offers. What, pray-tell, is wrong with that?

For me, mozilla has tabs, popup blocking and runs on linux, among other things.

Nothing at all ;) If IE serves you well, then please continue to use it.

    Hi Bill,

There's nothing more invigorating than a friendly Netscape or Mozilla vs. IE debate.

When your question is asked, I always get a kick out of referring users to this page:
101 things that the Mozilla browser can do that IE cannot.

There are even additions to this page, since Netscape 7.1:
    Junk Mail Controls
International Domain Names (IDN) make it possible to use characters from virtually any language (e.g., French, Japanese, Russian) for domain names.
    Radio@Netscape Plus
Find As You Type, for navigating web pages using your keyboard
Automatic image resizing, so that large images fit in the browser window
Address Book sync with PalmTM compatible devices

This is what you are missing, in addition to the security of Netscape Mail & Newsgroups. Netscape or Mozilla are both more stable and more secure than IE... Count your IE Security Patches to date.

That's terrific that you can view, or listen to anything on any site! However, many web authors are ignoring W3C standards, and ignoring those of us using other browsers, either Opera or Gecko based browsers. Their sloppy coding shuts out all but IE users... Nothing is more frustrating than to see "This site is best viewed with IE ".

There's nothing wrong with using IE, I simply think that Netscape, or Mozilla are the better browser.

    MHO,

    Ramona :D

I rest my case. Tranquilo and Ramona said it quite succinctly. Mozilla is still the better browser base . . . so far. Opera might be next in line.

When I find a page that refuses to open except with IE, I let the webmaster know (or at least try) and curtail any further business with 'em.

But, it's a free country. If, after realizing there are security risks with IE, that simply don't exist with Mozilla, and IE still serves one well, then go for it!

The main reason for me to use mozilla over IE is it is easy to manage cookies, popup, images, and scripts. I have problem with IE 's trusted and non trusted sites. It is hard to do.
