Hi, in recent times my modem even when I am not using the Internet is showing constant heavy activity.
I don't turn my modem off on the power point only put it on Standby.
Is it possible for someone to use my Internet while my modem is on standby.

Hi Bill, What sort/type of Modem is it? Wireless without protection could be hacked. What is your Broadband user account showing in above normal use? Neil.

    Hi Neil,
I have cable Broadband Modem and WiFi Router, Router is connected to Modem via Cable.
Yes I had the impression that I was using more of my allowance, since I had received a warning from my Optus ISP that I had used 50% of my allowance at around 22nd of May, I don't often get that once every few years, this month though I did not do anything special, upload was more than usual.
    Cheers

What encryption are you using? Mine is on WPA2-PSK (Fritz!Box 7360 Modem/Router).
Has Optus been able to give you details of any increases in use - when - regularity? Neil.

The modem will always "show activity" because it is maintaining the connection with your ISP. This is usually evident by a blinking LED. Login to your router and you should be able to view a list of all connected devices.

Hi, thanks Guy's, I did install that App. Tony but before I installed that app the strong activity on the modem eased off and it seems to be back to normal.
I think that maybe Drop Box, or one drive might have been uploading stuff automatically.
I will keep an eye on it for a while, and see what comes up with my ISP as a new billing month is starting.
    Thanks again for your help.
