I had a computer Motherboard go out. I got new MB and want to put the hardware on it. I got a new, SSD drive and OS.
I have a TV Tuner Card (winTV), with drivers - on the old HD. I have no CD.
I was wondering if I can use my new HD, then point to the software on the old HD?

    Thank you,
    Chris.

Hi, I don't think so. I think you will have to install the Software drivers on your new HD to get it to work.
You may be able to locate the Drivers in the Registry - but wait until a more knowledgeable person checks in. Neil.

Best way is to download the drivers from the manufacturers web site and install them in your system.

I have Quicken on a portable 80GB USB hard drive and can point to it from either my desk-top or from my wife's Netbook, using a dest-top icon. It's the "M:" drive for the laptop and the "F:" drive for the netbook. The only thing I have to remember is to change the drive letter for where Quicken saves the data.

They don't allow it. I have to buy the software (has to be on the system), then download the latest from the website. (WinTV from Hauppauge, HVR-1800).

    "Installation notes:
A valid WinTV application CD-ROM will be needed to install this WinTV v7 version. Any WinTV v6 or WinTV 7 application CD can be used during the install.

And need to have the CD, which I don't. The program is installed on one of the HD's, but I don't have a CD.

Well, $9.95 for a CD isn't going to break the bank IMHO.
