    Good Morining All.

I have found it best To ask FIRST. LOL

While looking around for ways to free up a bit more disk space I was just looking over my Windows folder using PowerDesk and I see MANY files named KB8XXXXX.log-KB9XXXX.log Dated from 6/16/05-9/23/06. They are using up app 1.5mb of disk space.

I believe ( it-or-not-by Ripley ) that these can be deleted saftely. Am i right or wrong ?

    Good morning BillyBob,

Yes, Those are safe to remove assuming you are not having any problems with any MS patches. Those log files useful for troubleshooting any errors that occur when a particular hotpatch is applied.

I assume that you also remove the $uninstall$ files for these same items when they seem to be settled in properly

    You're welcome.

I know you probably like to do things manually so that you understand how it's done, but for those folks who just want to get the job done quickly and easily, I should mention that you can also use the free tool designed and provided by Doug Knox for the job. It will delete the $uninstall$ files as well as the log files.

    Get it here.

Mission accomplished and I am still here.

Un-need stuff deleted and HD has been defraged

I now have app 2mb more disk space.

If you folks wish to rename me to " The Gambler" feel free to do so.

I was having fun with you BB :D

On the serious side, the reason to have meaningfull titles is for searching. 'Checking FIRST' is not very meaningfull for someone searching for answers to a problem or question.

On a serious note from me.

I still do not know how can you say it was not a serious.meaningful title when the question was asked, answered and the work done satifactorily BEFORE you even got into this mess ?

    Thanks again surferdude2

With the efforts provided by Superdude2 for a solution ... AND ... charlesvar changing the TITLE to this thread provides answers to BillyBob and many, many folks around the world. All is lost if you can not find a meaningful thread TITLE when searching from Google (or your favorite search engine).
