I know there might be some conflict with AOL, but not sure what to do from here. I am currently using version 8.0. Thanks in advance.

 

Let's eliminate the possibility of a virus first. Please see this M$ article for further. Then do a full drive scan with the latest signatures. If you have no such AV, use one of the on line freebie checks, they're often better than a local AV since they are clean and up to date.

Thanks for the advice. I used Symantec to scan my hard drive. Here is the results:

No viruses were detected in memory.

Another thing I forgot to mention is that I only receive the error when using AOL. For example, let's say I logged on to AOL, ended my session and then try to logon again, I receive the BSOD with the WAOL... error message or a vcomm(05) error message. I would then have to reboot my machine in order to use AOL.

 

I was kinda hoping for the virus, would have probably been easier to fix.

Now try some of these suggestions.

There's a good possibility that you'll need to completely uninstall AOL, clean all remnants from the Registry, and reinstall whatever version you like. Some have reported this problem when upgrading due to old dll left behind by the previous version causing conflict.
