I been having problems trying to get my FM56-PX modem to use the Faxtalk NetOnHold program. After doing some reading one article memtioned problems caused by Unimodem/V using Win98SE. I did a search and could not find Unimodem/V on my computer. Is this my problem ?? Do I need this file ??

I think you are looking for Unimodem.Vxd .It should already be on your system. Would this be a V.90 or a V.92 modem?

The Aopen FM56-PX is a v92 modem. Yes I do have the unimodem.vxd but the file date on this is 1999 which I believe is before V92 came out ???
Just found this on the MS webpage and was able to D/L the newest release. Hope this solves my problems

Unimodem V is the newest release of Unimodem, the Windows universal modem driver/telephony service provider for data/fax modems. Unimodem V provides the driver support that sits between telephony applications and voice modems and allows them to work together. This driver adds the most requested features to support data/fax/voice modems, including wave file playback and recording to and from the phone line, wave file playback and recording to and from the handset, and support for speakerphones, Caller ID, distinctive ringing, and call forwarding.

    Hi mark:
Is there another way of updating the unimodem V without re-installing Win98SE which takes about 3/4 hr on my computer. If I was sure that was the problem I would take the time to do it but I did do a re-install a couple months ago and I don't know why I don't have the unimodem on my drive.Seems that i was able to install the win95 unimodem v without any problems and that I should be able to do the same with a win98SE version.

You can use System File Checker [sfc.exe] to replace Unimodem.Vxd [4.10.2222 in 98se] as it may be corrupted, it seems to be the correct version you need. Another possibility is that the modem may not be setup correctly in Windows. Does Device Manager show anything unusual? Is there a listing for 'Wave Device for Voice Modem' under Sound Video and game Controllers? You could try removing the modem from Device Manager, rebooting and let windows set it up again.
Of course, getting it to work depends if your Call Waiting service from your telephone company is not giving you any problems.
I did find another version of unimodem.vxd [4.10.1998], but it is an earlier version for 98, 98SE has the latest version.
Sorry I am not of much help here.

    Hi Mark:
I checked the sound video and game controllers and there was a Wave device for Voice modem. Could this be interfering with the new modem ??
.I also checked the Telephony and found the following

    ndiswan Tapi service provider
    unimodem service provide.

Should I add either of these two ???

    HI Mark:
After trying every thing that was suggested and a few more ideas I finally decided to D/L Faxtalk lastest version of NetOnHold
on a free trial for 15 days.
After installing Version 2.0 the program worked right away. It looks like to me that there is something wrong with the 1.5 version. All a long I was thinking that the problem was either my computer or the FM56-px modem. I guess I will end up buying the Version 2 which is only $15 but it steams me a little because I couldn't get the 1.5 to work.
Thanks for your time and suggestions
