no i want to enable the call waiting. i am always getting important phone calls and i dont want to miss them because im on the net. when it worked before, it asked me if i wanted to answer or ignore the call, so if i was downloading something important, i would just ignore it.

I didnt think Windows had this feature. I dont have XP so I'm not sure. I have seen stand alone programs that allowed this to happen.

    kane,

I think this has to do with your v92 modem. In the modem software, I think you will find a place to make it work again. When you lost everything, did you re-install the call waiting software?

You need to look through whatever disks/manuals you got with your computer. If you didnt get any, then your out of luck short of buying software that will do this.

Kane, take the card out and look for a name or FCC number and track down the manufacturer. Once found, go to there site and download the appropriate software. Find a friend to install it for you.

When you got the lightening strike, did you have to replace your modem? What parts did you have to replace? Did you do it or a friend or company?

What brand of computer have you got and where did you buy it?

Did you get a recovery disk with the computer?

If you got a recovery disk, you can get the software off of it and re-install the program that handles call waiting.

Hang in there. We can help.:)

    bill,

i have a gateway, they are the ones that did all of the work on it.
they had to replace the mother board, modem, processor, memory, and had to reinstall the OS.

my pc was hit about 2 months ago.

the only disks that came with the pc was the OS restart disk, drivers disk and the applications disk

i hope that i gave you enought info to help me

    thank you

Kane, I would get Gateway on the phone and have them talk you through the re-installation of the call waiting software. It is probably on the drivers disk or the applications disk.

You might try to browse both disks and look for software for the modem. If you can't find it, I'm sure Gateway can tell you where it is.

    Good luck:)
