I can not get my computer to add my calculator in the add/remove programs section. I get the following:

The following error occurred: 'The file was not found'(error#2).

Setup could not finish opening a file on the source disk.

    Source File: 'C\WINDOWS\OPTIONS\CABS\calc.cnt'

    Destination: 'C\ WINDOWS\HELP\clac.cnt=WIN98_25.CAB

I have even tried to pull it off my Windows cd, with no luck.
I have also tried a general clean-up/fix-up in dos, still no luck.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Calculator should not show up at all in Add-Remove Programs. It should show up in Accesories in Windows SetUp.

    Addind The Calculator

    burgundy,

    to add the calc,
    first insert the win98 cd,
    and go to add/remove programs,
then go to the "Windows Setup" tab,
    then double-click the accessories,
    and check the calculator button.

Click Ok and let the computer install it from the cd.

Congrats, you now have a calc...!

I have to use C:\windows\options\cabs The only cd i got with my system is a recovery disk. I have tried pulling the file off of both the recovery cd sand out of 'options'. Niether one works. I can go to windows set-up and check the box, but it says that it cannot find the file. Any suggestions?

Check your windows\options\cabs folder for these four files; win98_23, win98_25, win98_44 and win98_49 . If you have these, the calc files can be definitely found.

If you have any old Win95 or Win3.1 disks, you can pull it off those. Only two files required, calc.exe and calc.hlp (calc.chm in later versions) and away you go. You probably don't need to worry about the calc.hlp or calc.chm even since it'll run without those.

It'll run as a stand alone, no installation required. Just put it in your Windows directory or anywhere else on your path.

I did not find any of those files in my cabs folder, nor could I find any when I did file search. As for the old 95 disk I do not have anything like that. Any other suggestions?

Thanks for telling me! You are the second person to tell me that. I must have a problem I was not aware of.

Send to my office at phacs@nortstate.net and I will send it from here.

I will see what is wrong with my email tonight thanks again.
