For some reason, and out of the blue, my lowercase C, V, and H keys will cease to work, when working in Word 2002. I can still shift it and get an uppercase letter though. The c, v, and h keys also work just fine outside of Word. Has anyone ever had this problem? Can anyone think of why this would even happen? Did I enter some different mode?

Haven't heard of this, but Word has a "detect and repair" feature in help. You will need the install CD and it takes a little while. Post back good or bad.

Keep in mind I don't know how much you know, so if I include instructions for stuff you already know, don't take offense. ;)

Here are some things to check:

    1. In Word, go to Tools>Customize and click on the "Keyboard" button at the bottom of the Customize window. Then scroll down through all the choices (and there are a LOT of them) in the right pane to see if any of the non-functioning keys have been assigned as shortcuts. If so, select the shortcut and hit the "Remove" button.

    2. The language the keyboard is set up for in Word. This entails having the Keyboard Language button on the Format toolbar...at least, there was no other way to get to it on my machine. (If it's not there, go to View>Toolbars>Customize, click on "Format" in the left pane then scroll down to Keyboard Language and drag it to and drop it on the toolbar with the left mouse button.) Then click on the down arrow next to it to make sure it's set up for English.

    3. In Control Panel, open Keyboard and make sure all the settings are as they should be for your system.

I hope you can find in one of those the way to solve the problem.
