I have a folder that contains many files, typically jpegs and Word docs. I have the order of the files arranged as I want them on my screen, but after burning to a CD, they're all mixed up. How do I preserve the order? (I tried numbering, but that still mixes things up since I don't want all the jpgs together, for ex). [XP/SP2]

Where are you seeing the mixed up order?

If Win Explorer, does sorting by file name or file type help?

Steve.Win Explorer. I don't to have to sort them after burning, as I want the files viewed in the order that the viewer sees them.

You are limited to what Win Explorer can do...You can change the view type and sort order etc...

Steve...I've come to that conclusion, but thanks for confirming it. But you'd think that burning software (I use Nero) would let you order them the way you'd like (more than just sort), and then burn them that way.

Try using drag and drop (InCD). Time consuming but will do what you want.

Sparrow...interesting thought, would that constrain the files to being on a CD-RW? Or perhaps burn on a CD-R one-at-a-time in a multisession?

Can be done in multiple sessions if you are careful not to close the disk. Read the help for the method. I do it on CDs and DVDs. RW works but is not necessary.
