BugBear B has messed up my Outlook Express, and I can no longer access the Newsgroups. When I try, I get an error message that says "The Account is not configured properly "

I have reinstalled Internet Explorer/Outlook Express, with no luck.

I also reinstalled Windows 98SE, and that seemed to clear up the last vestiges of the BugBear. (I hope)

Next, I contacted my ISP (Charter), and asked the Tech Support to walk me through the setup and the Internet settings. No luck there, either, and the Tech suggested that I check the Microsoft Network for Outlook Express help. I did so, but couldn't find anything there, either. The Microsoft Network is very difficult to use, and I kinda got lost going from page to page looking for help.

If anyone knows of a fix, or has a link to the Microsoft help, please post it. I need a link that goes directly to the page I need.
    TIA

Incidentally, when I first tried to reinstall Internet Explorer/Outlook Express, I got a message saying that it already existed on my system, and that I didn't need to reinstall it. I then downloaded that file again, and this time, it reinstalled OK. I suspect that the BugBear had somehow tampered with the file, which was in my Download Directory.

What O/S are you running? If it's Windows ME or XP, did you disable system restore first? Did you run the repair tool for bugbear ?

Lastly, do an online scan at housecall to ensure you are no longer infected.

It's a moot point, now, Daizy. Thanks for the help. I ended up reformatting and starting all over.
