    OS is Windows 7

When I boot up I get the blue screen of death which says BAD_SYSTEM_CONFIG_INFO

When trying to enter in safe mode, the last file checked says: Loaded: C:\windows\system32\drivers\classpnp.sys then it stops and will not go any further.

I tried safe mode and "repair the computer" which does not fix the problem. Also in safe mode I tried the "Last Known Good Configuration (Advanced)" and get the blue screen of death stating: A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

    cng.sys

The driver mistakenly marked a part of its image pagable instead of nonpagable.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. Before this issue occurred, McAfee had just updated itself.

    The suggestion didn't work...

I'm thinking it didn't work because my OS was originally Win VISTA purchased just as Win 7 came out as a result Toshiba send me a FREE Win 7 Upgrade DVD which was installed over Win VISTA.

After booting from the Win 7 Upgrade CD/DVD, I have it gives me a choice to either do a clean install or install over an existing OS. I followed the directions to install over existing OS which tells me to click cancel, remove the DVD, restart and re-insert the DVD. When I click cancel as instructed a command prompt window pops up but nothing is entered and the system shuts down. I tried several times and nothing happens.

I wonder if I should try the option to do a clean install of Windows 7 as the other choice?

I experienced a similar fault, not BSOD, mainly computer freeze at start up. I too have MS Vista upgraded to Windows Home edition. Found the quickest solution was to return computer to factory settings. This cured the error, but a real pain to carry out.

A clean install erases everything on the hard drive.

    I realize that...

it would erase everything on the HD, I was wondering if I could actually do a clean install using the Win 7 Upgrade DVD?
