In researching this, google - microsoft etc I am coming up w/ tons of answers IF YOU HAVE NOT REFORMATED the SATA HHD.

However, I have reformated the drive -- why because I was getting all sorts of BSOD but never PSI.SYS until trying to WinXP Pro again.

When I try to re-install Win XP Pro I get the following.
    1. Press any key to boot from CD
    2. Starts to Install from Win XP Pro (not SP2 or SP3 version)
    3. Starts installing then gives me:
    4. BSOD!! with the following...

    • Stop Error 0x0000007E (0XC000005, 0XF7T6BOBF, 0XF7CB7208, OXFTCBF08)
    • PSI.SYS F786BOBF BASE @ F7864000 DATE STAMP 3B7D855C
Can someone guide me in the right direction?

I had not installed anything new on my XPS/Dimension 400/9150 in many years -- besides Window/Office updates etc. I also have the latest BIOS A07 on it.

Thank you for your help!!! :)

Thank you PeteC for the valuable reply!! :)

From reading the links you pointed me to, it would seem that slipstreaming is not that difficult. Can I slipstream SP2 and SP3 at the same time or do I need to make 2 cd's?

    PeteC --

Quick follow-up, is there a way to also include updates from Microsoft (to date) into the slipstream or I am complicating things?

    Again- thank you.

    Slipstreaming is very straightforward.

AFAIK you do not need to burn 2 CD's although you must first slipstream SP2 into your XP install CD and then slipstream SP3 into the slipstream you have already created - then burn.

Adding Updates is possible, but complicates matters.

I do have to say that the install went smoothly and then I started to update the system -- that is when things went bad!

The slipstream of SP2 & SP3 were fine. Was able to do both to one CD. So if anyone else asks -- it works!! :)

I updated the NIC driver, used my jump-drive to install the antivirus before getting on the internet. After on the internet that is when the PC decided to do the restart over and over and over again. :(

Figuring I will have to reformat and start over -- going slower this time.

BUT wanted to say thank you for the advice on slipstreaming and the error!! :)

Have you tried Safe Mode (with/without) networking? That would go some way to eliminating a driver problem.
