This is probably down to a driver error - does the BSOD occur if you start in Safe Mode?

For more information of the error run the minidump through our Dump Data Collection tool and post the log here, noting ....
or try BlueScreenView which I have not had the need to try out, but which has been recommended here on the BBS.

Yes, the Blue Screen does occur when I boot in safe mode. I used BlueScreenView for this log. The other program said it was incompatible with my system.

    Are you running 64 bit 7? .....

We encourage all members to complete their System Specifications which help us to help you :)
This is your WiFi card driver - try uninstalling the Wifi card through Device Manager and rebooting.

If that fails to resolve the problem try updating the driver ....

Pete, yes I am running 64 bit win7. I attempted to do both of those suggestions and got the blue screen 6 times total. The wireless card is reinstalled, but I'm still getting the blue screen at least 3 times when I turn the computer on.

You'll need to make sure you have the latest (wireless) driver from Intel.

Yes, that's the link I used to re-download the drivers.

I'm going to go ahead and mark this thread as resolved. I haven't had any more blue screens in the last 2 days, and the computer has been turned off and on multiple times since my last post.

Pete, the Blue Screens have come back with a vengeance. This time, the problem is the exe file ntoskrnl.exe

Before suggesting a repair of your Windows installation I think it would be helpful to run disk diagnostics on your hard drive - DOS version from a bootable CD .....

    Disk Diagnostic Software ....

    ExcelStore

    Hitachi/IBM

    Samsung

    Seagate, Maxtor, Quantum

    Western Digital

You can determine the make/model of your drive using SIW - Hardware > Storage Devices. Hopefully you do not have a Toshiba drive - there is no diagnostic software available for Toshiba drives.

It would be wise to ensure that your data backups are current.

    Hi,

I was reading about this error end BSODs on another site and found this:

"Start the computer by using the Recovery Console, and then run the "CHKDSK /r" command. "

May be worth a try, and it can't do any harm.

You are quite right Pete, no Recovery Console, but all the tools are included in the installation, including the command line. There is a write-up HERE. I know it says Vista, but it applies to 7.

Pete, I will run the diagnostics later tonight when I get back to my computer. The Hard drive is a Seagate. Roger, unless this is a different program, my computer runs Chdisk each time I get a blue screen and doesn't boot.

    Hi Tiny,

There is a Repair Console on the 7 DVD. Booting from it will provide various tools, more than were in XP. It also offers the choice of recovery using a system image if you made one, a system restore, or a command line tool. (Disk check?)
It may also be worth trying F8 during the boot.

All the more reason to run the drive manufacturer's diagnostic software :)

Pete, the hard drive passed both the long and quick scans for the diagnostic software.
Roger, I have not tried that yet, I will.

EDIT: The last blue screen error I received while I was running Windows was caused by a program called spsys.sys

spsys.sys appears to be a Microsoft Corporation security processor - maybe connected with activation - not too much info available.

That's odd, because this is very much a legal copy of windows 7, just Dell's version.
