Hi all, Im new to Windows BBS. I'm having a problem here, well my PC BSOD when playing a game that uses DirectX. I tried debugging the dmp file myself and it refers to win32k.sys. Hope you guys can help me. Thanks

    Debug Log: http://www.a3genesis.net/debuglog.txt

I have included a link to the MEMORY.dmp since its too big to post here since its a Kernel dump. Its about 36.9 MB compressed in a zip file, and 105 MB uncompressed.

leroylim - Welcome to the Board :)

Please see our Dump Data Collection Tool and run the Debug Wizard to obtain a dump log and post it here. If it is too long split it over 2 posts. We do not need to see the memory dump itself.

    Please also note ....

Unfortunately these logs require expert knowledge to analyze and there are only 2 members (who occasionally visit WindowsBBS.com) that have the depth of knowledge necessary. Other members can make observations and suggestions as to how you might proceed toward finding the cause ....

My initial observation from your post ....
Check out your DirectX installation ...

Start > Run > type in dxdiag > OK

    KERNEL_MODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED (8e)
This is a very common bugcheck. Usually the exception address pinpoints
the driver/function that caused the problem. Always note this address
as well as the link date of the driver/image that contains this address.
Some common problems are exception code 0x80000003. This means a hard
coded breakpoint or assertion was hit, but this system was booted
/NODEBUG. This is not supposed to happen as developers should never have
hardcoded breakpoints in retail code, but ...
If this happens, make sure a debugger gets connected, and the
system is booted /DEBUG. This will let us see why this breakpoint is
    happening.
    Arguments:
Arg1: c0000005, The exception code that was not handled
Arg2: 0013eb86, The address that the exception occurred at

Fom your debug log, the crash is related to faulty memory. However one minidump is insufficient it is hardware problem, You have to provide 5 to 6 debug logs. If the debug log have memroy corruption and the crashing instructions are different. Then you can confirm it is hardware problem. You had better run memtest to diagnostic the ram.
