On some of my browser pages mostly msn they only go about three fourth of the way over. How can I get them to cover the whole screen? Thanks

sherley--Put your mouse cursor on the edge of the browser window. When it turns into a double-headed arrow, drag the window edge to the position/size you want. The next time you open the window it should remember that position/size. However, if you have several windows of the smaller size, you may have to do this for each window until all windows open the way you want.

I guess I didn't make things clear sorry . Its the Picture that shows inside the browser that only goes 3/4 of the way across the window it self opens fine with the scroll bar at the edge where it should be. I found a place that said to go into the registry HHEY USER , software, microsoft, internet explorer, main , and the delete Windows_Placement . I did that and it worked for the msn home page but not for some of the others. Any other suggestions . Thanks

what version of internet explorer are you using?

there are many things that can cause a web page not to take up the whole width of your screen. if the site uses tables, the author can define the width and size of the displayed text and images.

does this problem occur only when you are looking at one picture at a time? if you have IE 6, it will automatically shrink the picture so that you can see the whole thing without scrolling. if you hold your mouse cursor over the lower right edge of the picture a little icon will appear. click this icon and the picture returns to full size. if this isn't the case then i don't know what it is. maybe i am not understanding the problem...

    Hiya

    Try this.

1.Close all instances of Internet Explorer
2.Start the Registry Editor, by going to Run and typing REGEDIT
    3.Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Internet Explorer \ Main
    4.Delete the value Window_Placement
    5.Exit the Registry Editor

    Regards

    Sherley,

Did Eddie's suggestion work? I have the same problem with my work computer. My home computer is fine.

I am hesitant to mess around with the registry in case I ***** it up.

Let me know if this worked for you.

    Thanks.

You have nothing to lose by trying. The edit is harmless and the entry will simply be re-created on the next boot.

    Carborundum

I have been wondering why I couldn't translate a meaning from Member Brett's signature, as I have always enjoyed my Latin language education in high school.

[Yes Virginia, they used to teach Latin in High School. But that was before people had PCs.]

The trick here is that carborundum is a noun. But it is used as a verb. That is actually intended, as a dumbing-down for the purpose of self-denigration. Soldiers have always enjoyed knowing just enough of the vulgate to get what James Watt once referred to as "..., loose shoes, .... "
    Are you curious? http://www.aliensurgeon.com/inc.htm

    Stick with it. You'll succeed.

It would probably be more accurate to use "illegitimis" as opposed to "illigitimus "; this being the dative plural of "illegitimus" and the adjectival form of verbs in Latin (or gerundive) correctly takes the dative to denote the agent. The phrase could, I suppose, be described as being of passive periphrastic construction.

Maybe you should invest in the tie!!!

Well, that was an indomniable comeback

Hey! I'm no passive periphrastic, but I do enjoy a beer with dinner once in a while, with or without a date!

I didn't realize the phrase was well-known. It has a Dilbert-ish esotaricallity about it, unlike the plebecitic, "Carpe diem. "

Still, if I -- and this is just me -- were to console myself over the enormity of the task, I might just sigh, "Mensch, argere dich nicht!" Or, as my father used to say: "Himmel-Welt noch amal! "

    Two shay!!

Methinks, Pinoke, that maybe you have invented one or two of those words! Plebecitic? Esotaricallity? Hmmm. ;)
