Yesterday, my Video Card started spazzing out on me.

When I would boot up, Dos Would be missing half of it's data in a line pattern.... Sort of like this ( "_" is blank, "|" is visible): _|_|_|_|_|_|_|

Anyways, I plugged in my old GeForce 3, and it's now working fine. Upon reboot, a filed an error report, and XP reported it as being a Driver Issue... I can't remember now if it was incorrect drivers, or a conflict, but the funny part is:

When I booted up, the old card's cooling fan wouldn't even rotate...

Is this a sign of a busted card, or would a bad driver actually cause that to happen?

I've had this problem once before, and it rectified itself after I changed driver's about 85 times... I've tried Nvidia's latest, and the one that XP includes and lists as Digitally Signed..

I use an Abit Siluro G-Force 4 4200 128MB card (It's been fine since September)

Any insight is much appreciated :)

Can we assume that the power supply to the fan is plugged in to a live supply - bet it is :D

Have you tried spinning the fan by hand with the PC powered up to get it started ? - it may be a duff segment on the fan motor.

I'm not into these supersonic vid cards, but a driver problem seems most unlikely - unless other posters know better :)
