Booting Up Error - MOUNTMGR.SYS DAMAGED

    Using Windows XP

    Here's the problem When I restarted my pc i got the folowing error .
    ON A BLUE SCREEN =
    STOP 0X000000ED ( UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME)

    ok no prob i thought just install win xp again .
    BUT , i put the cdrom as first boot , everything goes well until It starts with loading , and then before i can do anything

    I get this error . MOUNTMGR.SYS DAMAGED . plz restart pc , did a 100 times no change always the same thing .

    WHAT CAN I DO ABOUT THIS ???

    Thanks for responding. Will give this a try but because that was the first error received, not really sure that this solution will fix it. Because I had tried to put the windows installation disk in to do a repair, and when I did that, that is when I received this error:

    MOUNTMGR.SYS DAMAGED . plz restart pc

    When you try to restart the computer, no matter how many times, then the mountmgr error still comes up and still says to boot pc.

    Are you able to boot from the XP CD to the Recovery Console as outlined in this article "Recovering Windows XP using the Recovery Console "?

    If so you can follow the fix given in the MS KB article.

    I have edited your thread title to make it more specific and hopefully to draw more people in.
