booting problems

    i'm trying to reinstall windows and when it start to bootup it comes to the point where it say searching for boot records what should i do? : :mad:

    a clean install.with xp pro. first i could not get into the bios but i got in and change to boot from cdrom first ,but when i put the cd in and let it boot from the cd it stop at (hit any key to start windows) and don't go no farther.
    what should i do now ?i took the floopy out because i don't think it's working so i can't use a bootdisk everytime i do download one it seems like it don't work.

    When you boot from the CD do you see 'Press any key to boot from CD' after the POST screen (the black & white text screen that shows before the Windows splash screen would normally appear)?

    yes that what it say ,but the it stay on that screen and don't move .it just sit there

    So when you press any key (letter key) after receiving the message 'Press any key to boot from CD' nothing happens?

    Before you attempted to reinstall Windows was the CD-ROM drive working OK?

    Have you checked the CD - is it clean, free from scratches, etc?

    Your first post stated ...
    This is an entirely different problem from the one you now say you have.
