actually, after the system restore, my laptop has made a normal boot without need to boot it with the last known good configuration. and it was ok.
but what i dont understand is the system is so slow...i have 256 RAM and i was trying to increase the virtual memory hoping the performance will be better, it's 320 by default, amd it's adjustable between 320 and 720, what i do is increasing the Virtual Memory to 512 but it doesn't work coz automatically it will be back to 320.
and another problem, i get these pop up ads and automatically installation of for exp virtual bouncer. i go to the control panel to unistall them, i get the message: could not open the Install.Log file and every time i log to the internet i get the automatically installation in the taskbar.
    many thanks for your help.

    Regards

Your symptoms sound like you are loaded with spyware/malware.

Go to Quicklinks (from my signature) and download, immediately update, then run first Ad-aware (remove all it finds) and then Spybot (remove all it pre-checks or flags in red). Then use the immunize feature of Spybot to block lots of the baddies and also get SpywareBlaster and let it block stuff as well.

You need to run Ad-aware and Spybot regularly. Once a week does it for me and be sure to update before you run. SpywareBlaster is passive protection but good to update while you are running the others and add any new items to it's block list.

    Hi sassomiro,
If you don't have Ad-Aware and Spybot you can download them from my signature.
Make sure you have the up-to-date versions of Spybot (v1.3), Ad-aware (build 6.181) and HijackThis. All are free and available bellow.

Download Spybot, install, update and run Spybot. Delete all it finds that is prechecked. Then download Ad-aware, install, update and configure Ad-aware for a custom full scan.

    Ad-Aware
Click on the Scanning button on the left and select :

    Scan Within Archives
    Scan Active Processes
    Scan Registry
    Deep Scan Registry
Scan my IE favorites for banned URL’s
    Scan my Hosts file
Under Click here to select drives + folders, choose:
    All of your hard drives
Click on the Advanced button on the left and select:

    Include additional process information
    Include additional file information
    Include environment information
    Include additional object details
Click the Tweak button and select:

    Under the Scanning Engine:
    Unload recognized processes during scanning
Include basic Ad-aware settings in logfile
Include additional Ad-aware settings in logfile
    Under the Cleaning Engine:
Let Windows remove files in use at next reboot
Click on Proceed to save the settings.

Click Start and on the next screen choose Activate in-depth Scan at the bottom of the page and then choose:

    Use Custom Scanning Options
Click Next and Ad-aware will scan your hard drive(s) with the options you have selected.

Save the log file when it asks and then click Finish

When finished, mark everything for removal and get rid of it. (Right-click the window and choose Select All from the drop down menu and click Next).

    Reboot your computer.

I would also suggest you download and run HiJackThis.
Download HijackThis from link in my signature. Save it to a permanent folder (I create a new folder in C:\ named HJT). Open and hit scan, then save log. Once it is saved it will open in notepad. Select all from the edit button, copy and paste the results here. Don't fix anything with it yet! Someone experienced with the logs will advise you.
