Does anyone know of a utility that will scan and detect your system and report what hardware you have? It would be most useful if it worked from a boot disk. The main components I'm looking for are sound, video, modem, and network adapters. NT4 has a hardware query tool, but it doesn't tell you any details and I can't find a replacement for this tool in W2K or XP.

    Thanks,
    Paul

Try AIDA32, it doesn't run from bootdisk but will give you all sorts of info about hardware, etc. Freeware. Download the Enterprise Edition from AIDA32
