   Hi,
   I would like to make a bootable USB stick to load my backup program and
   run it. I've tried several utilities but all want to install a OS. Is there a way to just install the xxx.exe file that one wants to run and boot to it ?

   You'll need to check with your backup software; what are their instructions?
   
   For example here's instructions that lead to a DOS boot: http://www.bootdisk.com/pendrive.htm
   
   But your backup software may require Linux or an other OS.
