    Appreciate some assistance.

Building a PC with a new DFI AM75-TC Mainboard, AMD Athlon Thunderbird 1.1GB CPU, 448MB SDRAM, and a Maxtor 15GB HD. The mainboard has on board video and audio. Cross checked all jumpers, and all are set correctly.

PC boots, can enter BIOS Setup, recognizes hard drive, Save and Exit info in BIOS, and then the screen goes blank.

When the Reset button is pressed, nothing happens.

If you boot withoout entering BIOS, boot process may start to recognize CD-ROM drivers from boot disk, but then all info turns to gibberish. (Tried several boot disks, several Floppy Disk Drives, and several hard drives. All do the same.)

Any ideas of what could be wrong?

    Hi,
The first thing that sticks out is the memory configuration. That works out to 256, 128, and 64Mb modules or 256 and (3) 64Mb modules. Try one module at a time. They are all pc100, right? Are they different Mfgrs.?

Second thing, is the heatsink properly installed and the fan running? Were you careful not to crack the cpu die in the process of installing the heatsink ( there have been more than a few T'bird's ruined this way).

Best approach is to remove everything connected to the mobo except monitor, keyboard, mouse. No cards in any pci slots, no FD or HD or CDrom. And only one stick of memory. This is the minimal setup and should post to a prompt stating that "no boot disk found ".

    Let us know what happens,
    Tin

    Thank you for your reply.

Did everything you suggested, but still no-go.

Ended up taking the mainboard back to the place where it was purchased, and the expert there could not get it going either.

    Getting something else instead.

    Have a good day!
