I am having trouble with my laptop. I turned it on and plugged my printer into the usb port and got a quick notice like it was installing device drivers (they were already installed but I usually print wirelessly but needed to scan) then I got a must restart notice. So I restart and every time it boot up I cannot get the printer to work in fact when I plug the usb cable in I get the spinning blue circle and the system is unresponsive. Stopped trying to use printer but when windows boots I receive a notice from microsoft windows that the application has stopped but may work if I wait. Not sure which app but the desktop turns mostly white (can still see my desktop but looks ghostly) and I need to restart.

I seem to only be able to work in safe mode. I ran MBAM and also superantispyware, but nothing shows. I checked event viewer and saw alot of errors most of which I drilled down to srvnet not starting. Other things are not starting because they need srvnet to start. I checked the services and srvnet is not on the list so I cannot start it. I see it in system32 as srvnet.sys I have multiple errors from System Control Manager that says the Computer Browser service relies on server service which did not start because the dependency group did not start with an event id of 7001.

I don't know what could of happened to cause all this. Can you help?

Hi StrahdOmega, It would help if you took the time to fill in your System Details under UserCP.
Don't forget to scroll to bottom of page and SAVE before you close the page.
Does your comp run OK with the printer disconnected?
What make and model of printer is it?
Did you install the printer software from CD?
Have you got all updates installed?
Have you got a Restore point to use?
    Have you tried sfc /scannow?
Let's know how you go. Neil.

I have an Asus k2je laptop running win 7 home premium. This Lexmark x4400 printer has been working fine for years. I installed it from a download from the website. The laptop will not load properly even without the printer connected. Seems to take a long time loading desktop then get an error that an app is not loading right and then system freezes. I ran AFC and it reported no problem. Can not run Windows update to check if I am up to date because it will not run under safe mode. I do have a restore point from about 2 weeks ago but I am not sure what files I would lose if I use it. Can you tell me what changes when a restore point is used?

    thank you

I would suggest you Post in the Malware Forum as you may have a virus. Neil.

FYI - from the FAQ's on System Restore
Any programs which have been installed subsequent to the last Restore Point will need to be re-installed.

System Restore is reversible - again from the FAQ's....

Thank you guys for your help. I will try the restore point and hope for the best. I am not sure what could have caused all this in the first place. Luckily the only software changes would be updates to photoscape and winamp.

thanks again and happy new year

Hey guys, I used my restore point and have been running the laptop for a couple of days. Everything seems to be working as it should. Thank you for your help.
