I recently purchased and installed (2) 512mb memory stick in my Dell 1100 laptop and now the computer will not boot. The manufacture's site states the system will take up to 1 Gig of PC2100 266 MHz SODIMM memory. Am I missing a step? The computer boots when I reinstalled the original memory sticks (2x128s). Help

Guessing that you purchased PC2100 266 MHz SODIMM?

Have you tried the new ram one stick at a time?
