    Fresh install of Vista Ultimate 64bit (I formated HD)

    Prior to re-install, I would have very slow boot up times. I would look at the event view and I would have 5-6 warnings and 1 critical error duing boot up. I also got warning during shut down.

    Now with fresh install (12hrs ago) I still get 2-3 warning about boot degradation and 1 warning about shut down.

    How can I find out what these are to fix? Anybody know what or where to look?

    Here's another warning-> Don't look at event viewer:eek:

    I'm leaning towards thinking it would help a whole bunch if you told us what the warnings said?

    Approx how many minutes does it take to boot up? Both of my machines take 3 to 4 minutes and I would consider that normal.

    You can get details about the event by double-clicking it.

    In Event Viewer, I use the Event ID number to search at the MS Knowledgebase (http://support.microsoft.com/search/?adv=1 ) or www.technet.com.

    LoginUI.exe
    You can change this logon method in Control Panel -> User Accounts. See if changing to another method has an effect.

    Do you log onto different networks? Is a background program trying to connect to a network or the internet?

    Check more event logs. As mentioned, don't concentrate on warnings. Errors and particularly "Criticals" may be worth investigating. My system has had 17 Warnings and 10 Errors in the past 7 days. I would only be concerned if there appeared to be a problem (I know a lot of those "Errors" relate to the system not being able to go into sleep mode at times).

    Try the methods in "Run Selective Startup using System Configuration" in Help and Support.
