I keep trying to set up my bookmarks such that they are in sorted order A to Z. When use Organize bookmarks, it temporarily works and that is how I see them in the organize box. Once I exit from organize, and go back to regular Bookmarks via the top bar, they are still in the incorrect order. In addition, I can only change the sort for a given set and not the entire Bookmarks file when in Organize view.

    1. How do I arrange the bookmarks permanently in in the view order I want

    and

    2. Is a there a way to do this all at once for all my bookmarks?

    Thanks,

    Jorjab

    Thanks,

I had only tried using the Library organize bookmarks - it turns out that will not affect the view of the bookmarks when using the toolbar to access bookmarks which is my preferred method. I did as suggested and used the side bar for Bookmark and did it there. It now works for the Toolbar bookmark. Never thought to try that way. In general, I prefer not to use the side bar for most things.

Actually, I think it should work when doing via Library Organize as well, but that is the Mozilla developers decision. Also, I believe that there should be a way to apply the sorting to the entire Bookmarks (including the sub folders) as opposed to doing one folder at a time. Again, a developers decision.

As an aside - they have now changed the downloads, such that I can only delete all in view or have to delete them one at a time. whereas before FF3 I could hilight the one and choose delete - they have now added one extra step to the process when choosing to delete just one entry. I like many of the new FF3 features but am unhappy with others.

Ramona, Thanks for you help. You are a whiz!:)

    jorjab,

You can use the option to clear the downloads when exiting Firefox. This setting is found here:
    Tools | Options | Privacy
Scroll down to: Private Data, and click on the Settings tab

You can also clear the Private Data through Tools | Clear Private Data

    Ramona,
thanks but I only want to clear certain ones most of the time not all - it is the one at a time that they changed. I can easily clear all at any time and knwo the many ways to do that. they just changed the way you remove any particular one.

No problem, i just have to adapt to the new way to do that. I keep the downloads page as is until I have actually done something with what I downloaded.
