Bookmarks icon on Bookmark toolbar repeatedly disappears.

I was unable to find a fix on your site.
The bookmarks icon on the bookmark toolbar repeatedly disappears.
I go to customize and check the use the smallicons box and then drag the bookmarks icon to the sidebar. It will remains there a number of times when I bring up the FF browser and then disappear on another start.
FF 3.0.11 is installed in Win XP.
This problem also happened in FF 2.*.
I researched it at that time and found some info that stated that some file was corrupted. There was a fix but I have since lost all that info.
Your assistance solving this very annoying problem will be appreciated.

I don't know if you will be able to get help from Ramona. I will do my best. But, I want to understand what you are doing, and why.
I never use a sidebar, and I placed the icon on the top row, the one which has File, Edit, etc.
I find that having an icon is redundant, as bookmarks can be accessed from the bookmarks button, on the same toolbar. I will have to see what happens, before passing judgment. I have Win XP, but I am using the button in 3.5. 3.0.11 is also installed, but I have not looked at it.

I have also have placed the icon on the top row with: file, edit etc. I like the way the icon displays the bookmarks better that using the Bookmark option next to History. The icon disappears from the top row as well. If I need to make the problem clearer just ask me what I can do. Is FF 3.5 beta or new update and will install it if not a beta, if you suggest that I do so? Computer is a desktop.

 

My icon is still there, in 3.5, a final version. I don't like it, because it opens a sidebar, and, initially, it showed no bookmarks, till I expanded the folders. I get more than that if I select Bookmarks|Organize Bookmarks, and that is temporary. A sidebar has to be closed every time.
I am in full agreement with broni, otherwise.
