Before I had to re-install windows to a factory setting I had backed up my documents and bookmarks to my external hard drive using the recovery backup through HP's program. After re-installing I had numerous .wim files in the folder and clicked on the recovery manager.exe file to restore them and it gave me a link to the folders it recovered on my desktop now the only problem is I don't know where to find or what I'm looking for to restore my firefox backups within that link on my desktop. If somebody could explain that to me I would be very much grateful thanks.

Wait did you say factory reset ? Well I am afraid in that case there is such use to recover your data. Yeah if you installed a new windows using recovery then the folder will be somewhere in your C drive but as far as i know, factory reset deletes all the directories, bookmarks, each and everything from your C drive. It makes your computer as if it arrived from the shop. So now imagine you are trying to run recovery manager.exe on your friends computer, that computer will have no idea that what are you trying to recover because it has no such extensions. Same is the case with factory restore.

Anyways if you do find a way or able to fix this problem somehow, do share your comment because i would like to know.

my apologies for the confusion,i had the recovery manager point to my external hard drive when i used it to back up my files...that's where i clicked on recovery.exe for the restore, come to find out later that unfortunetly you now have to use mozilla firefox itself to backup your bookmarks as I understand it(which I didn't do) because the recovery manager only saved internet favorites and email but not bookmarks.

I am using a Maxtor external drive, and the entire profile of Firefox is saved, including the bookmarks.html file. I found this, by going to the Maxtor backup folder. The program is located in the Program Files|Mozilla Firefox folder, while the Profile is in Documents and Settings|Application Data|Mozilla|Firefox|Profiles.
If there is a way to get things back by clicking a single button, in my externak drive, I don't know, and would not reply on it
