When I open a bookmarked ebay page IE is launched again, and ends at the ebay home page. Something to do with ebay commision recognition for ebay sellers or affiliates. Watching the http string while page is loading is qksrvr/adfarm/mediaplex......then landing at ebay home page. I suspect that some sort of bot or cookie is causing this.
I have run spybot, ad-aware, del temp files, cookies etc.

My question is, anyone else experiencing this or a similar situation?

Background: Win XP sp2 Home full, Norton 'net Security, wireless broadband net connection, etc.

I did email ebay to no avail.

Well, you aren't the only one who is being annoyed by this or who has not gotten a decent answer from the eBay folks.

Take a look Here. One of the suggested fixes there might help you out.

    Thanks newt!
I have seen that (via googling adfarm, mediaplex) and tried several of the suggestions. No workiee.

An oddity......I open an ebay bookmark....the adfarm nag launches......I right click and close the nag before it lands on ebay home page. I can then open other ebay bookmarks w/o the nag doing its thing. Then walk away from my computer.

But......when I come back later, say several hours, open a ebay bookmark, the nag is back. Some sort of timing deal??? Odd.

Also, on occasion, the IE session that is launched by this nag sometimes will not close. Do the con-alt-del routine. CPU use is 100% and am concerned that harm to cpu is possable.

100% CPU for a while won't hurt anything unless your system has poor air circulation that causes the processor to overheat and in that case, you'd be seeing system crashes.

I'm not an eBay user except on rare occasions and have to confess I've not seen this one so I'm a little handicapped when trying to suggest fixes but try

    - *.adfarm.mediaplex.com in restricted sites (and you may already have done that)
    - adfarm.mediaplex.com in the list of sites that are never allowed to place a cookie on your system (a privacy setting)
    - keep bugging eBay about the problem via email and on any forums that look appropriate.

breaking news.......I broke down and bought webroots "Spy Sweeper" software. Installed and ran. It found "doubleclick" spybot in the registry (XP Home os). As of now, no more nagging launch of IE taking me to Ebay home page.

Prior to spy sweeper install I had been using Spybot SD and Ad Aware freebies, deleting temp internet files, etc. Both did not find the doubleclick spybot, and del temp files did nothing.

    So far so good.
