Only Internet Explorer or is it happening in Windows Explorer as well?

Internet Explorer - what happens if you go into tools~internet options then click on the Accessibility tab and set to Ignore Font Sizes and Font Styles?

Just Internet Explorer as far as I can tell, but I also see it in browser-based interfaces like Zonealarm.. I'll have to wait til I get home to check the accessability settings...

OK I did that, it makes all of the text much larger, but still bold and italic :(

Interesting. Possible that one of two things has happened somehow.
    - you are missing all the typefaces for the fonts you see displayed that way other than bold italic so the system is getting as close as it can.
    - the font associations have gotten messed up and the system is confused on which to display.

This sounds like the sort of nonsense a virus might do to you so good idea to scan the system. Best to use an online scanner like Housecall since so many of the newer viri will try and often manage to disable your onboard AV software so it appears to be working but doesn't.

Also try a repair of IE after the virus scan and cleaning any that are found.

If neither of those fixes you up post back. The font issue is a little harder to deal with but certainly possible.

Well I was virus free, and a re-install of IE6 seems to have done the trick, the fonts are displaying correctlt again... Thanks!
