    Hello can anyone help?

Everytime I start up my computer I have a message that reads new hardware detected. The problem is I have not installed any new hardware. Windows then tries to find software for this new mystery device. The only clue I have is the device is called pci modem. Any ideas

I modified your thread title from Help I have not installed new hardware to more closely reflect the problem.

Also, please do not inculde "Help" in a thread title. It just adds clutter since all threads on here are asking for help in solving a PC problem.

Go into Device Manager and look for a yellow exclamation mark alongside either your modem or an unknown device. Right click on the modem/device > properties and look for any error message.

Alternatively look in Event Viewer > System immediately after boot and look for any error messages flagged with a yellow exclamation mark or a red cross. Double click on the message to open and on the icon below the up/down arrows to copy to clipboard and post here if relevant.

pci modem - an internal modem, generally on a plugin card in a pci slot or sometimes as a chip on the motherboard.
