    hi out there,

    when i tried to boot my system today morning, it gave me the following bluescreen (since i am german the text is german, but i tried to translate it for you):
    [Bluescreen]
    STOP: c000026c {Driver could not be loaded}
    \SystemRoot\System32\Drivers\EFS.SYS Driver could not be loaded
    Failure: 0xc0000102

    If this message is shown the first time, reboot. if it is shown again do the following:

    make sure new hard or software is installed correctly

    deactivate or deinstall new hard or software components. deactivate BIOS memory options like caching or shadowing
    [...]
    [/Bluescreen]
    the bluescreen appears as soon as the blue bar of the bootup screen (the one with white background with "Windows 2000 professional ..." on it, not the black one with the white bar at the bottom!) reaches 100%.

    the last thing i changed at my system was installing an old 10GB-hdd i found in a bag containing old computer hardware. the pc booted several times properly with the hdd connected.
    i disconnected the hdd from my pc, but the failure is still present.

    please help me, i dont have the foggiest notion what to do.

    Bensch

    Hi,

    c0000102 means "File corrupt error ". I believe module EFS.SYS is corrupted. Refer the procedure to recover ntldr as I believe the procedure to recover efs.sys and ntldr is the same. Copy efs.sys from W2K CD.
