    Hi Everyone,

I first want to say, great forum. I didn't know this existed until now. I work on a computer tech support helpdesk and I show them the forum tomorrow.

I'm really good with computers, I got my A+, Network+, Server+, Inet+, and MCP although this even stumps me and I wanted to see if anyone here has any ideas or seen this before.

At anytime of day or night I can be doing anything on the computer and all of a sudden my computer will goto a screen and lock up my computer. I can't press control-alt-delete or anything to get around it. The screen is blue and light blue strips. It almost looks like a nice wallpaper background.

I run Norton Anti-virus and it found 0 virues. I have Lavasofts Ad-aware and thats not finding anything either. I removed my temporary internet files and temporary files.

I went into safe mode and removed some programs that I no longer run and also ran disk defrag as well and that didn't do anything.

I was just wondering if anyone here had any ideas for me.

    Thanks in advance.

Difficult to tie down something like this, but some thoughts ....

Check Event Viewer for error messages

Check out temperatures of CPU, Motherboard, etc - Everest will give this detail.

    Check out PSU

    Reinstall/update video drivers

Check out graphics card by substitution - your current card may be failing. At the very least remove it and reseat it.

Run the manufacturer's diagnostic software on your hard drive.

    Pete,

Thanks for your message. I will look into my video card driver as a possible issue.

I check my processes a lot but was wondering if there was a way I can post my processes on here to see if anyone can spot any of them that can be trouble. One that I might of missed.

If there is a way let me know and I "ll get it on here for you to look at.

    Thanks!

    Several ways ....

Take a screenshot of Task Manager - Processes - I use FastStone Capture and post on a web site like Photobucket and post the URL here.

Better still become a Contributing Member which will allow you to post attachments - and kills all the ads.

Or download Process Explorer - save Process list as a text file and copy/paste into a post here.

You probably saw Process Explorer on SysInternals before MS bought it.

I see nothing untoward in that list, but would value the opinion of others on the board.

I am leaning towards hardware - specifically video card or PSU - as I posted earlier :)

    Hello,

I came across something else that is funny. I been noticing IE giving me problems lately. It's slow and seems buggy. Although it doesn't cause me problems daily so I don't know if its a fluke or just buggy. I "Could" go back down to IE6 but wanted others opinions before doing this.

Please check out http://www.clovisweather.net/iescreen.jpg as that is one of my screens I saw come up when IE was "Busy ".

I was doing something on yahoo and I got this screen for a little bit then IE came back to life again. It's like a screen is behind my IE screen.

Has anyone else seen this type of behavor in IE?

    Thanks

    -Jason
