I recently installed a new hard drive and now from time-to-time I get a blue screen with the following error message:
    ______________
    xxxStop:0x000000D1 (0x03804014, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0xFD48A58A) DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
    XXXAddress FD48A58A base at FD484000, Datestamp 3ce55a53-3c1807pd.sys
    Beginning dump of physical memory
    ______________

I did not change or add memory (96Meg installed) I only changed the hard drive. The machine is an old Compaq with a 233 mhz CPU that I use primarily for wordprocessing and checking email. I had to do the hd changeout because the other one crashed. I am running win2K. So far, this blue screen has only happened while surfing the net. All programs on the hd seem to function correctly.

Thinking that the error might be related to the install of the new HD, I reinstalled the hd but still had the same problem. The error is intermittent and may be difficult to isolate but I thought I would ask you gurus for any suggestions as to how I might resolve the issue.

    Thx

To to Microsoft Online support and search for DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL and tell it to use that exact phrase. Quite a few will deal with 0x0d1 locations. From a quick scan of the results, none are an exact match for yours but they should give you an idea of where to start looking.

As a thought - 96Mb is not really enough memory for 2K to run happily with. 128Mb would improve things for you overall and the cost of a 128Mb stick isn't high these days.

This is the exact reason why I was going to post today. However I haven't added a new hard drive. It just seems to happen overtime with my machine. I've cheated twice now and redid windows. Hopefully Microsoft will have an answer for me.

It is starting to get worse. Now when ever I run a graphics intense application it either gives me the error, exits the program, or restarts the computer. It really likes to error with the nv4_mini.sys file. I'll give a list of what exactly I'm running. I'm hoping someone has seen this before, and actually been able to figure it out.
