i have a dell windows xp computer and am experiencing the blue screen of death

    the error code is 0x00000024 0x00190203 0x82f6f778 0xc0000102 0x00000000

it won't even let me start it in safe mode, i've searched for answers on the web but each time they say i need my windows xp disk, which didn't come with my computer :/

If you bought the computer new, it should have come with several discs, one of which is labeled "Operating System. "

If you have that disk, it's just an XP installation disc with some stuff Dell throws in. You can do the same things with it as you can do with an ordinary XP disc.

One option is to borrow an XP CD from a friend, boot to it, go into the Recovery Console, run the command chkdsk /r and see if it can find and repair the errors so it will boot on into Windows.

Another option is to buy a copy of XP.

Another option is to call Dell and see if you can get an Operating System disc from them.

Someone else may have other suggestions.

0x00000024 seems to be "olden days ", from my search. It is involved with Win NT and Win 2000. It was suggested that you look at third party programs.

Miz has suggested what I would suggest. If you can't boot into Safe Mode, that is a very bad sign, in my opinion.

Look at removing and connecting the HDD into another computer or some other method of accessing the HDD and back up the data. Then you can try whatever tests/checks/utilities you like.

Stop 0x00000024 in XP is usually related to problems with the file system driver (Ntfs.sys).

Start by running a disk check. From a command prompt Start > Run type cmd in the box & press [Enter], next type chkdsk /f. If asked to schedule the disk check, press Y and reboot your computer.
