    Hello,

I've recently bought a new laptop, Dell Inspiron E1505. I have a problem which occured first only a week after I received my machine. The problem is very similar to the one presented at http://www.windowsbbs.com/showthread.php?t=56022

I don't know if my problem is caused by USB devices, as for the first week of use I did not use any ...

A more detailed description of the problem: When I close the display my laptop enters stand-by mode. When I resume, I very often get a blue screen with the information:

    DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
    STOP: 0x000000D1 (0x000001CC,0x00000002,0x00000001,0xF7722D9B)

    wanarp.sys - address F7722D9B base at F7721000,DateStamp 41107c89

(numbers may vary). The blue screen doesn't appear immediately after I resume - a couple of seconds later or even a minute. Can anyone help me with that? I know I could turn off the stand-by mode but it's a nice option and it really ****** me off that my brand new laptop is deficient in any way :/

    Machine specifications:
    Dell Inspiron E1505
    Core Duo 1.83GHz
    1GB RAM
    120GB HDD
    Windows XP Home

    Thank you in advance!

Hello hessian and welcome to the Board :)

    wanarp.sys is
"MS Remote Access and Routing ARP Driver" located in C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers. This may be corrupted - run sfc System File Checker tool http://www.helpwithwindows.com/WindowsXP/howto-24.html

Also check for bad sectors on your Hard Drive - run chkdsk - for instructions, type chkdsk into search box of Help & Support on the Start menu.

    Regards - Charles

That hasn't helped. System File Checker seems to have replaced one file (wanarp.sys? not sure ...) from my XP CD. Chkdsk hasn't found anything as well.

And today I got the blue screen again - just like I described in the firt post.

I'm losing hope of mending the problem. Is turning off the stand-by mode the only way to stop getting frustrated???

I heard that problems with stand-by mode are pretty frequent, aren't they?

    Hello hessian,

Have you contacted Dell? If this a new Laptop, a problem like this is certainly still under terms of the Warrenty.

In your place, I wouldn't fool with any error on a brand new machine.

    Regards - Charles
