Blue Screen Of Death Message Vxd, Etc.

While logging onto AOL as the AOL Welcome Page is being loaded I get this blue screen message:
Fatal exception at OE.......0028:CO292788 in VXD NDIS(04) +
00011018.
Then, of course AOL cannot load.
What is VXD NDIS(04) and what do I do about this message?

try uninstalling the aol adapter then reboot so it reinstalls
