I've started getting randomly blue screen that results in an immediately reboot on my laptop.

I've seen this happen on my desktop on hot days and it went away by cranking up the CPU fan(it's an adjustable speed fan and I had it set to low to keep the noise down). So, the error occured when CPU was under heavy load and got hot.

I've been getting the same on my laptop lately and usually after heavy use as well. How do I tell if it was caused by overheating or other hardware related issues or purely software matter?

This happened abut five times in the past few days. Until recently, I've got one every six months or so.

Run the dump file through our Dump Data Collection Tool and post the contents of the log here, noting .....
Download SIW and monitor your temps (Hardware > Sensors) - you may have an overheating problem.

Well, a BSOD once a month is more then likely just a fluke.
