    Hello,

I'm being routed from the maleware forum, post here:

    http://www.windowsbbs.com/malware-v...ext-non-functional-constant-blue-screens.html

I was using a Samsung RC512 (Windows 7 OS) when I got a blue screen which broke the computer. I was able to find this post here that accurately describes my problem:

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/foru...bluescreening/

I can start the laptop in safe mode- but can't open explorer.. nor can I open any programs (tried to open Malwarebytes but it gave a blank error screen). I tried to do a system restore but that didn't work either.

Is there any way for me to recover this laptop to a working condition?

    Thanks so much.

What prompts do you get when you boot up? Talking about F2 to do something, etc.

    Hi Mr. Bill,

F2 is system settings, F4 is Samsung system recovery. Those two are all that are shown. I know from Broni's instructions that F8 is advanced system settings.

F4 would (should) restore the laptop to the condition in which it left the factory - all data will be lost including any programs you may have installed.

    Hi PeteC,

Is there another option to restore the computer to a working condition without completely resetting it? Or does anyone know what caused this problem, since it doesn't seem to be a hard drive or malware problem. If need be though, I do have a USB Linux which I can use to pull my information off the hard drive before resetting it.

I'm not sure if there is a system repair disc, as this isn't my laptop! In the Samsung recovery menu though, there's an option to do a complete restore that restores the windows folder, wiping all personal data on there. I will try that option when I get home and backup my files on there, and will post results here.

It's not your laptop and you have your personal files on it and also in the first post you say "I was using a Samsung RC512 (Windows 7 OS) when I got a blue screen which broke the computer. "

    This is confusing.

    Hi MrBill,

Sorry if I wasn't clear- it's my girlfriend's laptop, but I was the one using it when the blue screen happened. So I can't say what the laptop has been through.

start in safe mode, go into msconfig, then startup and uncheck all. Go to
services, click on hide microsoft services and then uncheck all that are remaining. see if you get any help there

I'll venture a guess that since you have a Samsung, your O/S is one of those
proprietary builds and you need a samsung install disk to attempt a repair.
you might want to try a linux on a CD disk, then copy your files to a flash drive then do the hidden partition repair as suggested by someone earlier

I ended up doing a complete restore to factory settings. Not ideal, but at least the computer works. Thank you to everyone who contributed!

Wow... Seems a shame since you went through the Malware&Virus removal process...
