blank screen

    please help me. my pc is crashing (screen goes blank; usb hub lights go out; adsl modem red lights, but the computer still running ie green light on; cd drawer working pc fan working) every now and then can be up to ten times per day then nothing for maybe two weeks go into error log message, (The IPSEC Services service terminated with the following error: The attempted operation is not supported for the type of object referenced) and sometimes,(The distributed.net client service failed to start due to the following error: The system cannot find the file specified)running xp, ABIT kg7 with updated bios, NVIDIA GeForce2 MX/MX 400. run norton win doctor found a few problems but fixed them also anti virus upto date and firewalled. is there a program that will i.d the reason or the problem why. this is getting a bit tiredsome can anybody help me

    Hi A,

    Sounds to me like a periferal program is crashing your system. Try shutting down programs in the system tray and running msconfig to stop programs you don't need loading at startup. You may be able to isolate the culprit that way, then uninstall/reinstall that program and see if your system becomes stable then.

    Try and isolate exactly when it happens (eg, when the screensaver is about to start).
