    I have a Dell Latitude C600 using win98SE
Have Dell version of Roxio Easy CD Creator 5.2 Basic

When I put a blank CDR or CDRW in the drive, it is detected as an audio CD and Windows Media Player is launched.

I am still able to burn CD's, and once there is data on the cd it is no longer detected as an audio cd but this is a pain in the pain in the but. Any solutions?

I once had a burner that thought all CD's were audio. It turned out that a flash update of the CD-ROM's firmware was needed.

This may not be your problem, but what are the details of the drive?

Did the drive not do this at one time and then started to, or was it always this way?
