Seem to have a new problem. When I start the computer and click on the Start button I get the All Programs window come up but it is empty until I actually vlick on All Programmes. My memory isn't that good, I'm 80, but I am sure that when I clicked the Start button before the All programmes window was populated.

Hi billf. If you actually hover your mouse on the All Programs section do any programs show up? Did this behavior happen recently or has it been going on for a while?

If you have a large number of programs installed on the machine then its possible that the Start Menu isn't able to display all of the items although I have yet to experience this behavior. If that is the case then you might try following the instructions in this link for a possible solution, Windows 7 empty All Programs fix.
