    Blackboard problem

I use the Virtual Learning Environment platform Blackboard Version 6 extensively at work and at home.
I have Windows XP Home Edition and MS Office 2000 at home and XP Pro and Office XP at work. IE6 in both places.

My problem occurs when I try to add fresh text at home into the VLE forum that I have created at work
Previously under Blackboard version 5.5 I could do this OK, but in this version, every time I enter new text, I am prompted to load the Office2000 CD to install unspecified adjustments. I load the disk but the software does not install what is requested.
If you're familiar with Blackboard, this affects any announcements or any other descriptive text in any forum thatI have already created and wish to edit: any text already created will disappear entirely if I attempt to add or edit it, so I have to cancel or create a new announcement.

Is there any adjustment I can make in Office or IE6 to remedy this?

I can't help you on this, but I have edited your thread title to clarify the problem.

I think this is more related to Other Internet Software than IE/OE and I am moving your thread there.

OK. I wasn't quite sure where it fits as a thread because it does seem to straddle various aspects.
I recollect somebody advising me to re-install Office 2000, and to select an option while doing so that might overcome this problem, but I cannot recollect which option it was!

I'm not familiar with the application you're using, but to keep from being prompted for the cd, try this. Put in your Office cd and select a custom install/repair. Left click the icon next to Microsoft Office and select run all from my computer, then continue with the installation.

I'll re-install Office if it's really necessary, but I was wondering if there was some other tweaking of Office that is possible before I do that...

The process is painless and you won't notice any changes, that I'm aware of, other than not being prompted for the cd. It really just installs the add-ons that don't get installed with a typical install. ;)

OK. I didn't have to re-install. I selected the "repair installation" option after inserting the loading disk and it quickly re-installed some or all of Office.
I then left the CD in the drive and went into Blackboard to amend one of the existing entries, which triggered the request to insert the CD as usual.
This time, however, after about 10 seconds, the requests quickly disappeared and I was able to edit the screen for the first time on my home PC.
It still types using double-space lines but at least I can edit it.

    Thanks for the help.
