Okay I have been trying to fix this for a couple days and I cannot get it figured out.
    Computer Specs: Compaq 6000z Model#P8652f http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=bpb11720&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=94004

-First off I reinstalled windows xp pro then I kept getting BSOD STOP 0x50 and STOP 0x8E...I figured this was the memory because I ran MemTest86++ and it was getting errors right off. So I put different ones in that it was working fine.

-Then I went to buy a new Video card (cheap) Nvidia 6200oc(PCI) so it would not have on broad video. I went to change the settings in the BIOS to make sure it was set for PCI for the primary video card then shut it down and installed the video card. When I booted up the screen was black after the Windows Logo screen.

-So I shut it down then booted in safe mode, booted fine. I first I disabled the on broad video. Then I installed the the new video driver from (CD) that was provided.

-Then I restarted it logged in and everything but the taskbar was gone well you could see part of it but I could not get it all to be seen. Tried to disable explorer then run it again, tried to ATL+SPACE to move it, nothing worked.

-I did a msconfig through Task Manger I seen almost all of my services were stopped but only a few were running. None of them were disabled and it was on Normal Start-up mode.
    ------------------------------------
-So what did I do I wiped everything out because I had nothing to lose anyways. I formatted it when through the installation then when Windows reboots after installation the screen is black like before. Nvidia 6200 is what it is plugged into.

-I turned it off then switched the back to onbroad video. Booted fine. I installed The driver for the Nvidia 6200 and restarted. Switched the video to the Nvidia 6200 and the screen is is cut in half left and right, left side is black and right is is blue the default color.

So today I will return the card to see if it is the video card.

Look for any program in Add or Remove Programs that relate to the onboard graphics/video and uninstall that before you shut down to put the new graphics card in.

When you go to the Boot Options screen where you select safe mode, you can choose the selection VGA mode, that should allow you to boot into normal mode and install the new drivers.

The resolution may need to be adjusted. The nVidia graphics manager (Control Panel) should be able to be accessed by right-clicking on a blank space on the desktop. Choose a lower resolution (and maybe refresh rate). Make sure the resolution fits the screen, a "square" screen is in the ratio of 4:3, a wide screen is 16:10.

Often, you need to change the settings on the monitor (there should be buttons on it somewhere) when you change the graphics adapter.

PS Did you install the motherboard chipset drivers after reformatting?
